Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD) - AIDD is dedicated to ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities and their families are able to fully participate in and contribute to all aspects of community life in the United States and its territories.

College Programs for Students with Aspergers Syndrome - Many post-secondary institutions around the country offer training and certification programs as well as individualized and group support services.  This list contains links to various colleges that provide support to students with ASD.

How to Choose a Service Provider - a brochure put together by families helping families to assist self-advocates in choosing a provider.

Louisiana Citizens for Action Now (LaCAN) - is a statewide grassroots network of individuals, families and advocates who have worked together since 1988 advocating for a service system that supports individuals with disabilities to live in their own homes rather than having to be segregated from their communities in a facility to receive support.  Specifically, they have advocated for implementation of Louisiana’s Community and Family Support System Plan.

Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council (LaDDC) - The Council engages in advocacy, systems change, and capacity building activities that contribute to a coordinated, individual and family-centered, individual and family-directed comprehensive system of community services, individualized supports, and other forms of assistance that enable individuals with developmental disabilities to exercise self-determination, be independent, be productive, and be integrated and included in all facets of community life. 

Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) - assists persons with disabilities in their desire to obtain or maintain employment and/or achieve independence in their communities by providing rehabilitation services and working cooperatively with business and other community resources.

Louisiana State University (LSU) Disability Services - Disability Services (DS), in collaboration with other university departments, is committed to providing appropriate auxiliary aids and services for students with disabilities in an effort to ensure their full participation in all activities, programs, and services to the university. DS is dedicated to promoting the self-advocacy of students with disabilities and is committed to working with the LSU administration on the development and revisions of policies and procedures relevant to students with disabilities. DS also serves as a source of disability-related information for the university.

Partners in Policymaking (PIP)
  • Candidates in training attend a monthly weekend session each month from January through June in Baton Rouge.
  • Weekend sessions start Friday at 12:00 PM and conclude Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
  • Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
  • Candidates are expected to:
     - commit to one major assignment during the course, and
     - complete assignments between sessions.
  • In addition, expenses for travel, lodging, meals, respite care and attendant services for candidates will be reimbursed.
  • More information will follow upon receipt of your application.

Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) Disability Services - The Office of Disability Services facilitates the process of academic accommodations for students with disabilities and works in collaboration with other University departments in an attempt to ensure full participation in all activities, programs, and services of the University.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) Disability Services - The Office of Disability Services (ODS) at UL Lafayette is dedicated to ensuring nondiscrimination and equal access to all programs, services, and activities for qualified students with disabilities.
