Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a group of developmental disabilities which can cause significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges. The word "spectrum" is used because Autism appears in different forms, with symptoms or challenges that vary between each individual. As of 2023, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), autism currently affects 1 in 36 children in America. It is important to recognize each individual with autism as an individual-learning about their symptoms can help you to recognize and understand the behaviors and challenges related to autism, but each person has their own strengths, challenges, skills, and interests.
